naturopathic medicine

Blending modern science and traditional wisdom, naturopathy is a holistic approach to healthcare focused primarily on addressing the underlying causes of illness and disease. Using nutrition, herbal medicines and lifestyle strategies, naturopathic treatments aim to enhance the body’s innate ability to self-regulate health and healing. Considering lifestyle, dietary, mental, emotional and environmental factors, treatments are tailored to suit the individual rather than their condition or symptoms.

I work with patients with a wide variety of conditions, however I’m particularly interested in working with gut and mental health issues, as well as hormonal and chronic inflammatory conditions.

Gut issues I regularly treat :

Irritable bowel syndrome, gastritis, dysbiosis, gastrointestinal infections, allergies and intolerances.

Mental health issues I regularly treat :

Stress, exhaustion, anxiety, depression, bipolar, substance abuse and obsessive compulsive disorders.

Hormonal issues I regularly treat :

Thyroid imbalances, irregular periods, heavy periods, PMS, PCOS, fertility and preconception care.

Inflammatory issues I regularly treat :

Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, Grave’s disease, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel disease and endometriosis.

An initial consultation lasts around an hour and costs $145. Consultations are available at Kula Health in Newstead.

Expect a thorough discussion about your medical and family history, diet, lifestyle, sleep and mood. As well as lots of questions about your symptoms, goals, priorities, likes and dislikes. Bring along any recent blood test results, diagnostic reports or other relevant health information. Including a list of any medications or supplements you are or have been taking recently.

After an in-depth evaluation, a treatment plan will be prescribed. These generally include dietary and lifestyle interventions, nutritional supplements, therapeutic food items and bespoke herbal medicines. Referrals to other health practitioners or for further diagnostic investigations (blood, stool, urine, saliva, hair or genetic testing) may be recommended. With more complicated cases treatment plans may be presented during review consultations.

Review consultations last about 30 minutes and cost $90. These are generally encouraged fortnightly during the initial stages of a naturopathic treatment plan, then as required thereafter.

Phone or Skype consultations are also available with fees payable at the time of booking. Use the contact page for for availability.
